It's always nice to stay close to nature. Sitting under a tree and reading a book just makes you feel so relaxed. Gardening is also really natural and satisfying. But what about your health? It can be nice to take a more natural approach to healthcare, too. If that is something you are interested in, then you've come to the right place. Acupuncture. Massage therapy. Herbal medicine. If you suffer from chronic pain or mood disorders, you may be wondering about CBD. Many people use CBD as an alternative to pain medications and other prescription medications because there are so few side effects. If you would like to learn more, keep reading.

Is CBD Legal?

Unlike THC cannabis, CBD is federally legal. This is thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, which separated THC cannabis and CBD hemp into two distinct categories. Therefore, even though THC cannabis remains federally illegal (and illegal in many states), CBD is widely accepted throughout the US.

In fact, while THC cannabis products must be purchased at a licensed dispensary, CBD products can be found just about anywhere: health and nutrition stores, your local grocery store, convenience stores, etc. However, if the CBD product contains more than 0.03 percent THC, it is no longer federally legal. Similarly, edible forms of CBD are not federally legal, but they may be legal in states with legalized marijuana.

What Makes CBD Special?

Many people rave about the health benefits of marijuana, but THC has many negative side effects. First, its psychoactive components affect your brain and thinking, causing slowed reaction time, memory loss, difficulty concentrating, etc. In some cases, these negative side effects can lead to anxiety and paranoia. For this reason, you can't work, drive, etc. while under the influence of THC.

CBD is also great at helping with certain health conditions; however, it doesn't contain psychoactive ingredients, so you don't get "high." This is largely why CBD is less regulated, but it also allows you to go about your day as usual. In addition, CBD is not associated with feelings of heightened anxiety or paranoia, making it a better choice for many mood disorders.

What Kinds of CBD Products Are Available?

Depending on where you live and where you go, many different CBD products are available. In states with legalized marijuana, you can find CBD edibles, concentrates, vape cartridges, pre-rolls, and flowers with high CBD levels at licensed dispensaries. Even if THC is legal for recreational use, you won't find these products anywhere but a licensed dispensary.

Regardless of whether THC is legal or illegal in your state, you can find CBD topicals and oils since these have specifically been legalized by the federal government. The best part is that these oils don't add calories to your diet like edibles, and they don't damage your lungs like smoking CBD. In addition, you can apply the topical directly where you feel pain, giving you more control over your treatment.

CBD is federally legal and has been shown to help with many conditions. Unlike THC, however, your mind and thinking won't' be affected. If you would like to know more, find some CBD topicals in your area today.
